Flu shots are an excellent benefit for both employees and employers. The number of sick days taken by employees because of the flu can be reduced through flu vaccination. There is no better way for your company to improve its chances of avoiding the flu than setting up a flu shot clinic right in your office. Health Risk Assessment (HRA) questionnaires bridge the gap between lifestyle and health status by relating an individual’s current habits and routines to his/her actual health (i.e., cholesterol level, blood pressure, etc.). Detailed reports, with recommendations for improvement, are produced for each individual who completes an HRA. They include sections on various aspects of life with questions on their own health history, diet, activity level, mental health and other health related issues about daily living, safety and habits. Clinical data (i.e., blood pressure, cholesterol, body fat, etc.) can be collected during a health fair or self reported. Aggregate reports, which detail characteristics of your work force as a whole, can be sent directly to your company. This allows you to detect the over-all needs of your employees and can guide your company in developing proactive education sessions. Results are ready within minutes so we can fully explain results and provide health coaching.

Osteoporosis is a disease that results in decreased bone density, or thickness, and therefore attributes to weak and fragile bones. It may also be considered a “silent disease” because, if left untreated, it can progress painlessly until a bone breaks. Osteoporosis has primarily been considered a disease of older women. However, with increased life-expectancy, poor nutrition (particularly during childhood), and the advent of certain medications, individuals of all ages and both sexes may be at risk.
Osteoporosis screening (bone density testing) is a non-invasive procedure that requires a single bare foot and is usually complete in less than one minute. It works by measuring the density of the heel bone using ultrasound. It compares individual results with research established norms. The risk of developing osteoporosis and the odds of fracturing a bone in the future may be predicted. Bone density may improve through non-invasive means such as proper nutrient supplementation and weight bearing exercise.
The purpose of cholesterol testing and lipid profiling is to identify individuals at risk for coronary and vascular disease so that the appropriate interventions may be initiated. High cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for coronary heart disease. That test includes total cholesterol (TC), HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol) TC/HDL ratio, and triglyceride measurements. The most common cholesterol test in a health fair type setting includes TC and HDL and is often combined with glucose (blood sugar) testing for diabetes, since it is checked in the same manner. The first step to reducing high cholesterol, and thereby reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and stroke, learning what your results are. Lifestyle Improvements offers fasting and non fasting tests via finger stick with an onsite cholesterol screening system. We also provide finger-stick testing for A1c, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) test results.
This is the most convenient cholesterol screening method to provide during a workday. A finger stick blood sample is obtained and results are available in just a couple of minutes. This system is available for fasting and non fasting tests. There is only one component related to cholesterol screening, triglycerides, which requires fasting for more accurate results. Therefore, since testing triglycerides is not as common in health fair settings, fasting is usually not necessary. Likewise glucose is used for diabetes screening. Fasting is generally recommended for glucose testing, though not mandatory in a health fair setting.
Pulmonary function tests are also called lung function tests, and they evaluate how well your lungs work. The tests determine how much air your lungs can hold and how quickly you can move air in and out of your lungs. The tests can identify lung problems, and assess how effectively treatment for a lung disease may be working.
